Earth Day on the Promenade

This past weekend, I had the joy of attending the annual "Earth Day on the Promenade" in Santa Monica. Parking was horrible, especially since a few garages were closed due to construction, forcing us to drive around for 20 minutes looking for a spot (so much for being green). A spot was eventually found and off we were to enjoy our afternoon.

Besides the regular tents of eco-friendly bags, apparel, and home services, we were able to see two new vehicles up close.

One was the 2011 Ford Fiesta. This model boasts a fuel economy of 40mpg highway, an aerodynamic design that minimizes air resistance and increases fuel efficiency. A pretty sweet looking little car in person.
In March, FedEx had unveiled it's new electric delivery trucks, four of which will be used in LA. FedEx touts having the "largest hybrid fleet in the transportation industry." By early this summer, the FedEx alternative energy fleet will grow to over 1,800 vehicles in service globally.
