Who doesn't need more storage? After receiving some boxes from some online orders, I decided to put them to good use rather than throwing them in the recycle bin. And here's what I came up with:
Fabric - enough for in- and outside
Low loft batting
The obvious: sewing machine, thread, scissors, etc.
Cut 5 pieces of cardboard - 4 sides and 1 bottom. For the large basket, I did 6"x12" and 6"x6". For the small basket, I cut 5"x5". Cut your fabric about 1/4" larger than the cardboard on all sides.
Cut your batting slightly smaller than your cardboard and attach using the spray adhesive. You could also use tacky glue, but I'm impatient and wanted less mess. I only used batting on the outer side of the baskets.
With right sides together, sew your fabric only on three sides to create a sleeve, with a tiny seam allowance. Insert your cardboard and hand stitch shut.
Throw on your pj's, turn on a good TV show or movie, and hand sew all 5 sides together. The large basket took me about an hour to put together, including stitching the sleeves closed.
