A Festive 4th

On a whim, I decided to use up some old fabric and sew up a little flag decoration. I found a pattern for a large multi-flag quilt in old book I have: Happy Holiday Quilting. I took the instructions for one flag and decided to make a table centerpiece. Didn't turn out too bad!

For the first time, I used real quilting utensils, such as a 1/4" foot and a walking foot. It was much easier to use than I expected! I also experimented with free hand machine quilting, rather than stitch-in-the-ditch:

So here's my final table centerpiece for this year, including the vase I made last week. Have a safe and happy 4th!
