She's a seamstress. A much better one than me. But she tends to leave string all over the floor and counter tops while she works. So, as part of her birthday gift, I made her a thread catcher.

The top serves as a pin cushion, but is also weighted (with heavy door hinges) to hold the hanging bag on the tabletop. Then, all small scraps of fabric or cuts of string should end up in the bag. This ingenious pattern came from Merriment Design.
This is SUCH a good idea! I have a pile of thread that gets pushed around when I sew -- so this is something I may have to try!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea! I'm not much of a seamstress, but I am a big mess maker!! Thanks for sharing!

A friend of mine had one of these a few years ago! I completely forgot about it until now. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. My grand-daughter works at my office and when she's not catching the phone she catches up on bow making and crafty things. This would be perfect for her. Thanks for sharing! Newest follower from New Friend Friday!
