I live in a condo, so we don't really have our own yard space. So I needed to try something that didn't take up much space. And I needed something the squirrels would have trouble getting into since they ate the roots from my other plants I tried growing. I found this pictorial and decided to try it for myself.
It was fairly easily to make. I started with an 18" pot on the bottom and inserted a tall wooden dowel into the hole at the bottom of the pot and filled with soil.
I continued stacking with smaller pots until the dowel was hidden.
In the bottom two pots, I planted impatiens. Then sweet basil. And then strawberries on top. Let's see how it goes!
