Critters in my bathroom

A few weeks ago, "Moonrise Kingdom" was making the rounds on the cable movie networks, and I'd tune in almost every time at least for a few minutes. And I'm glad I did, because it gave me a craft idea.

Our 1/2 bathroom is ugly. Some weird dark beige, green, and purple vertical lined wallpaper and wooden bath towel and TP holders. I've been thinking for awhile on how to brighten up the room a bit, but nothing ever came.

Until about the 3rd time I watched "Moonrise Kingdom." I decided to go with a retro woodsy theme. Ran to the fabric store and picked up this woodsy fabric. Lots of panels of squirrels, mushrooms, foxes, birds, leaves, etc. Perfect for cutting out and making little pieces of art.

I chose a few of the pieces, and hand-stitched a little more design to them - straight-stitching and french knots.

I decided on different ways to display the pieces, from little pillows, to wrapping the fabric around a piece of foam board.

I also picked up a bit of acorn fabric and gave the hand towels a little makeover.

Not that I made this, but when I saw this little guy at the store, I had to give him a home in this room.

So the bathroom is a little more tolerable to look at. And who doesn't like to go to the bathroom in the woods?

And now, a Vine I took while stitchin':

  1. Way to make the best of that weird wallpaper! It looks fantastic now!

  2. Such an original idea and I am IN LOVE with that fabric - what is it called? You're clever creations have been featured at this week's Craftastic Party. Stop by & grab a Featured On button. Thanks for linking to the Craftastic Monday party at Sew Can Do!
