Preying for gifts

A go-to present I usually find for Joe is a funny t-shirt or pajama pants. But I didn't really see anything this year for Christmas that really stood out to me. So I decided to make my own.
Joe has a thing for preying mantises. Long story. So why not make him a mantis shirt?

I saw this post from Michael's awhile ago and saved it until I was able to get a few hours to myself. I was able to follow the directions pretty closely (it's amazing who the freezer paper really does stick safely!)
1. I found a picture of a mantis online. Played around in Photoshop to crop and it make it a silhouette. Traced the pattern onto freezer paper and cut it out.
2. I ironed down the freezer paper per the instructions in that blog. I didn't have spray fabric paint like they did, so I used a sponge brush to dip into my fabric paint and dab onto the stencil.
3. After about 5 hours, I peeled back the freezer paper and voila! Got my t-shirt image. I think he came out cute, if I do say so myself.
