Last weekend I was volunteering at the zoo when it started to pour. I got pretty drenched, but it was a nice relief with the drought we've been experiencing. Unfortunately, it didn't rain at all in my neighborhood just 20 miles away so I had to hose down my garden like normal.
Yesterday I took a day off from work to kill off some vacation hours, and I felt pretty productive. Did some general chores, went for a hike, and even whipped up a cover for my new work laptop (Always seemed silly to me that the company provides us tech, but nothing to protect it). Used leftover 'geek' fabric (see my apron from last year) and some old pink fleece for the lining. I based the design on this pattern from Hello Creative Family but with velcro closure for quick access.
And speaking of geek, this Saturday, May 2, is Free Comic Book Day! Joe and I will definitely be hitting up some of our local stores to see what goodies they have to offer. And then we'll be seeing a documentary about a Superman movie that never came to be. Let our geek flag fly! For more info and to find participating stores, visit FreeComicBookDay.com.
Then, of course, is MY official start of summer - the local car show. Downtown Culver City is shut down for most of the day on May 9th to allow for tons of classic cars, fun vendors, and a stage for rockabilly bands and pin-up contests.
Let the fun begin!
