Gone wild - my new zoo bag

I volunteer at the Los Angeles zoo with the animal keepers twice a month. Those mornings, I schlep my purse, lunch, books for my lunch break, work gloves, and galoshes, and the bag I had been using just wasn't cutting it anymore. One day at my favorite local fabric store, I found some zoo babies fabric from Birch Organics. I wasn't sure at first what I would do with it, but I had to have it.
Then two and two came together. And how appropriate as the LA Zoo is bursting with babies this year!

I cut apart and re-pieced the images to my liking, and found a yellowy bamboo-design for the bottom of the bag and lining. I quilting different designs into each block and the bottom, pieced the bag all together and voila! A nice big bag for my volunteer days. And maybe I can sneak home one of those babies...

Now on to my next project - a wall hanging for our living room to fill up the blank wall where picture frames refuse to hang.
