My 2016 Resolutions

Happy New Year, everybody! I'm determined to make 2016 a successful and happy year.

With 3 out of 5 2015 resolutions completed, I really got to step up and focus. My goals were easily achievable - just one more quilt, and a crocheted sweater - but time got away from me, I guess. So let's give 2016 a better try:

  1. Use up scrap yarn and fabric. I've found a unique afghan idea on Pinterest as a way to use leftover yarn from old projects. Plus my pile of scrap fabric is getting a little out of control, so it's time to cut down on that too. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have to start crochet or afghan projects absolutely from scratch as there are no materials in the house?!
  2. Beautify the garden area. I've been slacking the last few months with our community garden. Lots of tree leaves all over the ground, the ivy we had pulled out is coming back, and the bushes are getting a bit out of control. I hope to focus more on that area, grab a rake, and keep the area nice and orderly. And, maybe with the help from our HOA board, make the area more welcoming with some landscaping and maybe public seating...
  3. Jars, jars, and more jars. For Christmas, I received new bottle cutters. The set I had been using isn't that great, and actually chipped my bottles 50% of the time, maybe more. Hopefully these new sets are much better, and maybe my technique will also improve. And that means, a lot more candles to be made! I also didn't do much canning this year, once or twice if that. In 2016, I'll definitely break out the ol' jam jars and get boiling!
  4. Read 35 books. I did a great job in 2015, surpassing my goal of 25 books with 38! My goal this is year is to keep close to that, and again, at least five of those books being text-based novels instead of graphic novels. I already have a few sitting on my shelf in my to-read pile!

And one last announcement - I intend to not blog here so much anymore, but to post more on my new Tumblr page. Outside of work, I'm often not at a computer, or would want to warm it up, so I may find it easier to post on Tumblr from my phone than the less-than-desirable Blogger app. We'll see how it goes!
